The Little Things

When I got my 1948 Bridgeport mill it had already been around the block a few times, and one of the things that always bugged me was the quill lock handle. The OEM knob was lost at some point and replaced with a 5/8" long 10-32UNF socket head machine screw, although it did work it wasn't ideal.  During the midpoint of another unrelated project I finally snapped and made a real handle. Made from cold rolled steel, it includes a 5 degree taper per side angle turned with the compound and the round portion was turned with a homemade ball turning toolpost and finally filed smooth with a single cut fine pillar file.

Thanks for looking
